Optimisation of your findability

Did you know that you can easily improve the findability of your e-learning portal and e-learning module(s) in search engines? Using the CMS, you can specify your own search terms and information so that your portal can be found more easily. In addition, it is possible to use the CMS for each training an effective page title, smart keywords and your meta description to fill. Below is a brief description of how you can do this within the CMS. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us, we are happy to think along with you.

Optimising the findability of your e-learning portal Via the CMS you can enter a page title, search terms and a description for your portal:

Page title: State who you are and what your e-learning portal offers the user in one sentence. Include at least one of the search terms, your company name and possibly the location of your organisation.

Example; Elarning platform ETC Zoetermeer with online training for companies

Keywords: Hier vult u gewenste zoektermen die op uw portal van toepassing zijn

Bijvoorbeeld: e-learning, elearning, online training, leren, trainingen, bedrijfstrainingen, kennis, zelf modules maken, self produce,

Meta description: Here you give a short, concise description of your e-learning portal. Read below what a meta description has to comply with.

What is a meta description? The meta description is a strong, short, summarising text that is added as an HTML tag to your portal and/or to one of the training courses. It is important to think carefully about the meta description because it is the text that will be picked up by the search engines and shown under the url of your website in the list of search results. With a clear and good description, 'searchers' are more likely to click on your website. And although the meta description is not directly a ranking factor (search engines indicate that they do not use it in their ranking algorithm), the click rate (CTR) is important. So the more often your link is clicked (partly due to a good meta description) via the search result, the higher your result and the higher the ranking of your site in the search engines.

What is a good meta description?

  1. Use a maximum of 155 characters

  2. Use an active tone of voice and make it action-oriented

  3. Add a call-to-action

  4. Choose the most important keywords

  5. Show specifications, where possible

  6. Make sure it matches the content of the page

  7. Make it unique

Optimising the findability of your e-learning modules You can fill in the same fields per e-learning module that you offer in your portal. You navigate via the CMS to the submenu of 'Trainings'. You choose a training and fill in the fields via the tab 'Properties'.
